INDIAN LAND CLAIMS

North Vancouver – Last night at an all candidates meeting co-sponsored by the North Vancouver Real Estate Board. North Vancouver Seymour riding Reform BC’s Ron Gamble outlined views on Native Land Claims that would create real problems and difficulty for British Columbians by not understanding the potential damage and impact Indian Land Claims would have on British Columbia’s future.

Until this issue is finally resolved, Real Estate Boards across this province have to up-grade their "Offer to Purchase Contract" by inserting a clause, which states that any purchase of property will be subject to "Native Land Claims". An issue that will have a negative impact on investment in this province.

Everyone is afraid to talk about Indian Land Claims. Do you remember the Charlottetown accord? , Although heavily supported by the Politicians, Media and big business, the people publicly rejected the accord. It did not reflect fairness or equality and took away the Democratic principles on which Canada was founded. "That everyone should be equal under the law." It might also be noted that Indians on the Indian Reserves also voted NO to self-government.

This Nisga agreement, brought about by the Liberal Party in Ottawa has become the back door to the rejection of the Charlottetown accord. It will harm many people, including Indian people, and, the taxpayers, the people who are going to pay for this agreement, should demand a Referendum by all British Columbians, not just a few.
