Vernon, BC: Like the Phoenix, The Reform Party of British Columbia has arisen from the ashes and is alive and well. President Ron Gamble and members of the Board held a Board Meeting in Vernon Saturday, May 11th. This was followed by an open meeting at 2:00 p.m. which was attended by a number of local members.
Mr. Gamble spoke and answered questions for almost two hours explaining the trials and tribulations of the party. He enlightened the audience about the false accusations, suspension and ultimate reinstatement of the party just prior to the recent provincial elections.
He went on to emphasize that Reform BC is open for business. He explained that at the last Annual General Meeting, Reform BC adopted a strategy that would allow for four or more sitting Liberal MLAs who have become disenchanted with their Party to become Reform Members and cross the floor as Reform BC MLAs and thus become the official opposition. The NDP has lost credibility over the last ten years and should be removed.
Ron Gamble encouraged the local members to start rebuilding the Reform BC Constituency Association in Okanagan-Vernon so they will be prepared to elect a Reform candidate to the Legislature in the next election in May 2005. An effective Opposition is necessary for a democratic government that is responsible and accountable to the people of this province.
