McIntyre and Mustel Poll Places Reform BC Fourth
April 22, 2002
The latest poll released by McIntyre & Mustel (www.mcintyremustel.com) conducted April 9-16,2002 shows that 46% of decided voters would support the BC Liberal party if an election were held tomorrow...
The results of the April '02 poll are as follows:
BC Liberal |
46% |
NDP |
23% |
Green Party |
14% |
Reform BC |
6% |
BC Unity |
2% |
Social Credit |
2% |
Other* |
7% |
*Other includes independents, other parties and,
those who would vote for, "any party other than Liberals and/or NDP"
Although the poll shows that the BC Liberal Party may not continue to enjoy the majority they once had, the poll shows that an opposition other than the NDP could be viable.
It is to these means that we continue to work, especially with current Liberal MLA'S who are not Federal Liberals, to have, once again, four or more cross the floor as Reform BC members to become the official opposition. If this can be accomplished, the NDP, currently as the official opposition with only two seats, would immediately cease to exist in the legislature as
a recognized party. Or, until they have four elected members, or until the next provincial election, which, if the Liberals keep their promise, will not be until May 17, 2005.
The effect of this, as the BC Liberal Party support more of Reform BC policies than any of the other parties, could provide a stability that most British Columbians are looking for which would be the beginning of a strong two party system both heading in the right direction. One to govern, the other to hold the government accountable.
Reform BC will be holding its next board meeting in Vernon on May 11, 2002 and have been invited to speak at a public forum that afternoon between 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the CICF Community Hall, Alpine Centre, 100 Kalamalka Road, Vernon BC. Anyone interested is invited to attend. For details please call Beverly or Dale Steward at 250-545-8948.
