Commentary
The Ministry of Education
needs to clarify what its mandate is for
sex education in schools, especially Elementary
Schools. British Columbian parents with
younger children in these schools, of
all races, are very upset.

Respondents are extremely
upset over same-sex books in primary classrooms
as to discussion of sexual intercourse
with children in primary grades and discussions
of oral and anal sex with children in
grade 8. Most say “that’s
sick”.
Same sex marriages are
fast becoming more acceptable by British
Columbians. Will increased exposure in
our schools on same-sex lifestyles increase
tolerance towards a homosexual culture
and eventually denigrate traditional values?
This survey was initiated
by events, which took place in my youngest
daughter’s elementary school, and
my oldest daughter’s middle school,
both located in my constituency of Port
Moody-Westwood.
