As the Prime Minister fiddles…
For
immediate Release
As
Prime Minister Jean Chretien fiddles with
marriage Canada burns.
Canada may be in a bit
of a crisis, given the recent SARS outbreak
in
Toronto, the ban on all Canadian cattle
exports, a 20 per cent U.S. tariff
on Canadian softwood and Ontario’s
power outage and energy crisis,
which could push the entire Canadian economy
to the brink of recession.
In addition, British Columbia is suffering
the worst forest fire situation in 50
years.
The growing value of the
Canadian dollar, number one problem for
many
companies who export, has caused hardship
on those companies.
It is reported that total manufacturing
shipments for Canadian companies
fell about 4.4 per cent in the second
quarter of the year, which alone
translates into a loss of about $8 billion
worth of trade.
I am not sure what legacy
the Prime Minister will leave behind when
he finally
goes, but it just may be an issue he least
expects. Marriage! The Prime
Minister is for homosexual marriages while
Paul Martin, the Prime Minister
in-waiting, supports dropping the word
“marriage” from the proposed
legislation
and instead using a reference to “civil
unions”.
