Shirley Abraham named new President of the Reform Party of British Columbia
Vancouver, BC: A businesswoman and realtor from Surrey was named the new President of Reform BC last Saturday in Kamloops when long time President and Founder, Ron Gamble stepped down. She is the third woman to hold that office.
Abraham says that she will consider running in the by-election in Surrey Panorama when the current government calls that election. She states, "We hope to see the results of voter dissatisfaction with the BC Liberal Party in that by-election."
Abraham is strongly supported by Vice President Erle Martz, who has been active in Prince George, investigating the circumstances surrounding the sale of BC Rail, an important issue in that city.
Speakers at the AGM included Mary Ann Hardy and Marie Wilson from CRA {Canadian Citizens Rights Association} both speaking against Bill C-11 and the Westbank First Nations Self Government Agreement. Mary Ann Hardy is a non Indian living on Westbank First Nations Lands, and Mary Wilson is a member of the Westbank Band. Their arguments presented the potential disaster of self government for both Indians and non Indians living on First Nations Lands and agree that the Agreement should NOT be used as a template for future negotiations.
