Welcome to our web site

For more than 20 years1 BC Reformers have been fighting to bring direct democracy to the Province of British Columbia.

Now, more than ever, we need our politicians to be accountable to their constituents. We think you should have the right to know how your MLA has voted, through recorded votes in the Legislative Assembly. And if constituents feel their MLA is a disgrace to his or her office, we feel that they should have the right to meaningful recall - not the unworkable process presently in place.

We proposed fixed dates for provincial elections. This will happen for the first time in 2005.

We want the people to have more control over government, rather than government having more control over the people. We want the people to be able to bring forward their own issues and legislation ideas, through a workable citizens' initiative process. And we want BC governments to use referenda to obtain public approval on major controversial issues (such as the sale of BC Rail).

Our party policies come - not by rubber-stamping plans hatched in smoke-filled back rooms - but from ideas put forward by ordinary members at the constituency level. Policies clearly must have the support of the people before they are adopted by the party.

We believe Reform BC best represents your principles and values. Please join us as we seek to build a strong political party to become government for British Columbians.

Thank-you!

Ron Gamble
President

1 (Since our incorporation in 1983)
